Grumbles

It's been ages since I didn't up date my blog occasionally. Either I'm out of idea or I don't have the time to blog anything interesting. I wanted to blog about my working place but .....there nothing interesting I wanted to share with.

Ever since I'm working at the new place I don't have time for everything. I don't even have time to chat with ex-colleagues, read blogs, read e-news, update on the latest song, latest fashion etc etc. I'm kinda left behind. I miss all those time when I have the freedom doing all those things at the comfort of myself at the office at my desk without my boss scolding or nagging at me. (Long sighs) How I wish I never "kicked" out from that co. Somehow or rather life goes on & accept everything as faith and my decision of upgrading myself to a position which I never expect. It's too late to regret but I take this opportunity to learn as much as I can and gain more experience for future sake. Patient is the key to success!

Now I seldom surf net in the office. Only when I have the "freedom" then I dare to log in. Sometimes I don't have the freedom unless I have a blocking space that no one can see me online :)
I can say that I go back home late everyday. I even work till late, which I don't like even my loved ones at home. But I hope that they understand what I've been through. People said this is different. This is not a company like any other company where they have flexible working hours. My working time is very hectic. Everyday market list market list comes to my desk and the worst part is I have the dateline everyday. Most of the time I have to run from one office to another office which located quite far. Sometimes I have to wear my flat shoes to run. Most of the time I have to eat my lunch very late just to finish my task. It's not that I want to show off my hardworkingness. Dang! Every week I have to bring back my work for the weekends. I didn't live my enjoyable weekend life like how I used to :( There are times when I've done my best to complete every tasks given and yet people still not happy with what I've done and often get the negative feedback. I'm just a normal human who only have two hands not like a machine who can work perfectly.

I can't relate too much about my work. But for sure I'm still learning and gaining more experience as much as I could before I declare myself as "taukenio". Ahaks....In my dream I guess. This is the opportunity I have while I'm still young. So live life to the fullest while I have the opportunity :)

Last but not least, I'm glad that I'm part of the team!

Bak Chang Day @ Dragon Boat Festival

It is "Chiak Bak Chang" day today. You can see Chang seller smiling widely on their face on that day. Chang are very pricey nowadays compare to few years back (for the medium size one). If it's a small one of cuz cheap lar but then will that sufficient for us? Either they come in big size with pricey price or a small size with reasonable price. Well there are few type of chang sell in town. No need to elaborate cuz Bak Chang is the most popular one.

Why do they call it Dragon Boat Festival?

Dragon Boat Festival is called Duan Wu Jie in Chinese. Jie means festival. The festival is celebrated on the 5th of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar (May 28)

The most popular theory of the origin of the festival is that it was derived from the activities of commemorating a great patriot poet, Qu Yuan. The story about Qu Yuan has been deeply rooted in Chinese culture and this festival, so it is definitely a very important factor for the origin of the festival.

But since some of the well-known traditions of the festival already existed even before Qu Yuan, other origins of the festival were also suggested. Wen Yiduo suggested that the festival may be associated with dragon closely because two of the most important activities of the festival, dragon boat racing and eating zongzi, are related to dragon. Another view is that the festival is originated from the taboo of evil days. The fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar is traditionally considered an evil month and the 5th of the month is particularly a bad day, so a lot of taboo had been developed.

Most likely, the festival was gradually derived from all of the suggestions and the story of Qu Yuan is certainly the driving power to make it a great festival today.

Like other Chinese festivals, there is also a legend behind the festival. Qu Yuan served in the court of Emperor Huai during the Warring States (475 - 221 BC). He was a wise and erudite man. His ability and fight against corruption antagonized other court officials. They exerted their evil influence on the Emperor, so the Emperor gradually dismissed Qu Yuan and eventually exiled him. During his exile, Qu Yuan did not give up. He traveled extensively, taught and wrote about his ideas. His works, the Lament (Li Sao), the Nine Chapters (Jiu Zhang), and Wen tian, are masterpieces and invaluable for studying ancient Chinese culture. He saw the gradual decline of his mother country, the Chu State. And when he heard that the Chu State was defeated by the strong Qin State, he was so despaired that he ended his life by flinging himself into the Miluo River.

Legend says after people heard he drowned, they were greatly dismayed. Fishermen raced to the spot in their boats to search for his body. Unable to find his body, people threw zongzi, eggs and other food into the river to feed fish, so hoped to salvage his body. Since then, people started to commemorate Qu Yuan through dragon boat races, eating zongzi and other activities, on the anniversary of his death, the 5th of the fifth month.

Zongzi is the most popular food for the festival. Zongzi is a special kind of dumpling. It is usually made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. Fresh bamboo leaves are the best for the wrapping since the taste and smell of the fresh bamboo leaves is part of zongzi. Unfortunately fresh bamboo leaves are hard to find.

Today you may see zongzi in different shapes and with a variety of fillings. The most popular shapes are triangular and pyramidal. The fillings include dates, meat, yolk of egg, etc. The most popular fillings are dates. The festival is closely associated with zongzi and dragon boat races. More importantly this is also a national patriot festival through commemorating the great patriot poet, Qu Yuan. People are reminded that the importance of loyalty and commitment to the community in the festival.

Well that's basically the legend of Chang.....that's all folks. I'm counting down for Gawai..yay!

Restaurant Food Vs Hawker Stall Foods

Another delayed post. During my weekend this was what we had for supper. I suggested to go to Sushi King. It's been months I had not step my foot there. Thinking of how thin was my purse back then, I can't go in there.

The other day I had my dinner before this supper so I thought of why not. After all, I won't eat that much :) So there we go to Sushi King.

I ordered California Temaki for the first time

Shiema Shaba. I did not touch this at all. Not my type :P

Tuna Mayo x 2 nos.

Lastly, must have dish Kanikama Maki.
Look how wonderful the name of this dish is.

During the weekdays, went to a new place called Country's Rice located same row as 20 sen off Batu Lintang Road. This shop used to serve western foods but now operated by new tauke.

The whole cafe surrounded by mirrors. Just so wrong to place mirrors below your knee. Kids might accidentally bumped into it. Lol

Medium Cup of Teh Tarik

From Top Left Sour Plum Chicken (something like that) & bottom was Spicy Kankung Belacan. That's nice...

From top right was sweet sour pork I guess. Kinda forgot what we had that night & bottom right was Lemon Chicken + soups partly hidden. (Those 3 dishes very look alike) as if we ordered the same dish...That's why they called it Chicken House !!

Lastly the hawker stall foods at Kenyalang!!!

Kenyalang Char Kueh. Not really my favorite but just wanna try since I always came here & saw lots of people "tapau" back. I still prefer the salty type. I'm wondering why do they have to put the newspaper below the transparent plastic?

That's my ah boo's favourite Kueh Chap!
This is nice...not that oily & greasy.

So which one do you prefer?

Lesson Learning...

No update for quite some times. Been very busy with works. Well, yesterday I've learned a lot of new things. Know it at office or home.

Went back home before 6pm. Kinda tiring plus the traffic jammed. I expected the traffics will be less bumper to bumper. Hell NO! After dinner, went online & waiting for sis to sign in. For the first time ever, I've learned how to have a conversation with my sis in MSN. Called me Sakai, but I thought that only "Skype" able to do that. Well, the free cheaper way to have a conversation without dialing 1800 bla bla bla then need to dial the destination phone no. Thanks to the technologies nowadays & to myboo for teaching me patiently. Haha. (I don't kow much but I know I'm stupid) ^_^l| *sweat*

Then, a sudden conversation about a video on super monster pronounce his "yun hai" funnily (err...cloud sea or watever - When view from the peak of a mountain you are able to see thick clouds below it-something like that) See below for the pic.

The greatness of YouTube! Behold!!!

Amazingly how he can speak lots of words at the age of 2++

More videos will coming up.

Happy Chap Goh Meh

Chap Goh Meh is to mark the last day of Chinese New Year... huhuhu no more ang pow. Din even collect much this year. As I'm getting older, red packet getting lesser. Hmmhhph!

The occasion is marked by feasting and various festivities, including the consumption of tangyuan. In traditional Chinese culture, it is also celebrated as the Lantern Festival or the Shang Yuan Festival. In Southeast Asia, however, it coincides with the Chinese Valentine's Day. It is also when young unmarried women gather to toss tangerines into the sea, in a hope that their future spouse will pick it up – a custom that originated in Penang. In the past, this was also the only day that unmarried ladies could be seen with their partners.(hahah.. this is so yesterday) Article taken from Wikipedia.

Had dinner at home with family ;)

Yee Sang a.k.a Chinese salad..

Let's toast! The higher the better!!

The end of Chinese New Year!
*sighhhh* Miss my sis ;(

Happy Chap Goh Meh everyone

The advertisement portray children nowadays how they treat their parents..(watch it & u'll know what I mean). They never appreciate what they had until they lost their loved ones.

Triple Celebrations

My "Peace Sign" hand got burnt (first degree burn) by hot steam last night. Great! I didn't know that the pot was just boiled & never do I expect that the heat was that friggin hot! Despite what had been said earlier were more hurt rather than my burnt epidermis :(

Quickly I went to the sinki & cooled it down under running water for few minutes but it didn't get better even after mum applied Colgate. How did I feel? Hmm it's like when you cut a chili padi & you rub the chilies onto your finger. DaRn hot & spicy x10000 times. It's finger lickin' good.

Red & sore more at my right finger. Whenever I press it, it's soo painful & as if there is a balloon on my finger.

After that, I found my car tyre punctured. Great!!

Last but not least ....

To myself, hope Year 2009 is a happy year & hope I found a job soon! (Pray to God). I want to be a better person this year. Hope my resolution this year is a successful one :)
Forgive & remember what had happened in 2008 & learn from my mistakes. Thanks to all of my friends, colleagues & my loved ones for being there for me thru good & bad times & many many thanks to all of my friends for their wishes even though some haven't wish me yet at the time I posted this post. **evil grin** .....

To my Ex-ED

Adios & good luck in whatever you are doing now & also in the future
